Jen Cook-Chrysos | Chrysos Designs

For the past ten years I have been working on a contract basis with small businesses, individuals, and non-profits to shape their identities, refine their messages and reach their target audiences. I work with images, typography, drawings, html code, print and interactive media.

I began my education at the University of Michigan where I earned a B.S. in Biology. My first job was at Boston University Medical Center in the Pulmonary Immunology Lab.
While I was there, I realized that I really wanted to illustrate science rather than work at the bench.

A few years later I completed a B.F.A. in Communication Design at the Massachusetts College of Art where I studied both Illustration and Graphic Design. My next few jobs included: Designer at Advanced Medical Graphics in Boston, MA, Graphics Support Specialist at Whitehead Institute of Biotechnology in Cambridge, MA, Scientific Illustration Intern at Pfizer in Cambridge, MA, and Graphic Designer at Crocker Design in Framingham, MA.

As a freelancer I have worked steadily for a variety of clients, from private business owners such as Five Rings Jiu Jitsu in Beaverton, OR, to large non-profit institutions such as MIT and Whitehead Institute in Cambridge, MA.

Since moving to Portland in 2008, I have completed several courses and workshops in the Multimedia Professional Program at PSU in order to keep abreast of best practices in web technology, search engine marketing, and social media marketing.

The result is that I am able to provide the full package to any small business or non-profit, whether just starting up or tweaking existing marketing materials and strategies. I provide market analysis, brand development including logo design, web site development and marketing online and through printed materials.
